DKO Architecture Sydney office: Commercial spaces selecting Australian timbers
Workspaces not only serve to house computers and a station to get work completed but a space to be creative and productive. The budgets on commercial office fitouts are increasing and allowing designers to create quality, creative and useful workspaces. The return on investment on productivity is much higher than the outlay spent on the fitout and this is evident on the new DKO Sydney project. Creating inviting workspaces has proven to increase staff well being, performance and attracting and retaining talent.
Plank Floors worked with the team of designers at DKO Architecture Sydney to supply the flooring for their new Sydney office. Design trends have moved to using Australian timber species on interior spaces and hence our Spotted Gum was selected for this project from our hardwood collection. Spotted Gum is one of Australia’s premium native hardwoods sourced for its high durability and strength making it ideal for high traffic spaces. Spotted gum is typically used in structural engineering applications such as wharf and bridge construction, railway sleepers and mining due to it having one of the highest Janka strength ratings. With the vibrant colour palette and earth tones, Spotted Gum has created a feature of DKO’s new office space, creating a warm and inviting space to work and engage with clients.
The flooring was also used to clad the plant boxes and walls to add a feature to the room and to break up the front reception and work desk areas. The boards are prefinished so the use on cladding walls, ceilings and joinery is endless and adds a flow to all interiors.
The builders on this project were Sheeth and delivered the fit out to the highest quality with an extremely short turnaround time, showcasing their experience.
